THE BEGINNING: In 1979, Phillip operated Basham Agencies and had acquired several agencies and secretarial contracts. International Travel in the 1970’s was something the everyday person was still yet to discover fully, and Phillip saw a market whereby country people needed assistance with travel and holiday bookings.

Phillip secured accreditation with Ansett Airlines and TAA (later to become Qantas) together with travel wholesalers, and thus in 1979, Phillip Basham Travel was born.

Although often approached by large firms and requests to join as an affiliate, Phillip was always proud to remain an independent, family-owned travel agency.

Over the past 45 years, Phillip Basham Travel has arranged trips for countless clients, earning a strong and trusted reputation throughout the Clare Valley and Mid North region.

In the latter years, he passed his skills and knowledge on to Richard and the team, giving himself and Jan the opportunity to see some more of the world.
